Who we are

Association for Community Development Services – ACDS is a registered Non-Governmental Organization established in the year 1991 to work for the upliftment of children and women working in stone quarries and crushers in neighboring areas of Kattankulathur block in Kancheepuram district which is very adjacent to Chennai. Various activities implemented in schools and communities to enroll and sustain quarry children in schools. Later quarry women and men mobilized and ensure their children education and schooling. Read more>>

The young children live in the quarry and crusher area do not have any facilities. The mother have to go for quarry or crusher work regularly. Read more

NETWORK/MODEL PANCHAYAT

    Based on the experiences we gained to widening our activities to the district level it is motivated us to promote a network called Concern for Child Rights Network – CCRN.   Which consisting of NGOs functioning in 25 Panchayats in Kancheepuram district.  It is primarily working for children on regular schooling and education as well as their protection. Association for Community Development Services-ACDS organized “AAJEEVIKA AND KAUSHAL VIKAS MELA, 2018” for the job of a self-employed tailor in the Apparel made ups and home furnishing youth girls those who trained in the tailoring training Skill under the scheme of PradhanMantriKaushalVikasYojana (PMKVY).
This special event presided over by the Mr.M.Sivakalaiselvan, Block Development Officer, Kattankolathur constituency who gave special address, lighted the lamp  and chief guest speech. Mr.D.Devanbu, Director ACDS who gave welcome address and spoke about the importance of the event and benefits of the scheme which will help the women and youth girls for independent living in the society.
Further, Mrs. B.Baby, Administrative Officer, ACDS who briefed about the approval of the PMKVY Project  to conduct theTailoring Training Course at ACDS which took lot of challenges to get approval for the programme.In this event around  60 trained Candidates and another85 candidates who are under the training totally 145 participants participated for the getting job opportunities. Especially, two renowned garments industries in Chennai were participated in this special event. In that one of the top most garment industries is Celebrity Fashions Limited at Kattankulathur block, Kancheepuram district and another one is P.S.ApparelesPvt.Ltd, to choose and select appropriate candidate to provide placement at their organization.
Mr.Idin Borough, Manager HR who represented on behalf of Celebrity Fashions Limited and spoke about the challenges and opportunities which is available in the field of tailoring industries for trained professionals and their income status in the particular industry.
Mr.A.Raveendran, Production Manager, P.S.ApparelesPvt.Ltd., who represented on behalf of P.S.Appareles and explained in detail about the job opportunities and work status which will promote the trained professional in the field of tailoring department.
Mr.N.Ramachandran, director, Need Trust who shared his experience in the field of self-employment and spoke about importance of the self-employment for better independent living in the society which motivated the participants to listen actively in the programme.
Further, Mr.M.Sivakalaiselvan, Block Development Officer, Kattankulathur constituency distributed the album of tailoring course for trained professionals (60 members) and also issued PMKVY – 2 programme training kit (bag, Identity card and uniform)for who are going to train the tailoring skill (two batches) under the above said scheme at Training Centre of ACDS, Kandigai.
Finally, a long waited selection of appropriate candidate was started. In this job Mela15 trained women selected by Celebrity Fashions Limited and 26 by P.S.Appareles Private Limited. The list of selected candidate was enclosed with this report.
In this event, most of the participants gave a feedback that this programme would help them to learn more about the garments industries and job opportunities in the field of tailoring industries. We would like to thank PMKVY.2. Project and ACDS to organize such a special event.
This special event ended smoothly with vote of thanks by Mrs.R.Bhuvaneswari, Trainer, Tailoring Course, ACDS Training Centre.
